Our Story

Built by a teacher who lived the problem.

Ivaro was created by a husband-and-wife team: an educator who spent sixteen years inside K–8 classrooms, and a technology executive who spends his career building secure, reliable systems for regulated industries. We built the tool we wished teachers already had.

Why we started Ivaro

Ivaro began with a problem one of us lived every single day. After sixteen years teaching, leading instruction, and mentoring other teachers, Ruby kept running into the same pattern: educators who love the work are quietly worn down by everything around it. Not the teaching itself, but the planning that spills into the weekend, the grading that swallows the evening, and the dozen disconnected tools that each promise to help and instead add one more login to juggle.

The technology existed to make this better. It just wasn't being built for teachers, or with the care their students' data deserves. So we decided to build it ourselves. Ruby brought the classroom: what teachers actually need, how a real lesson comes together, where the hours truly go. Kevin brought the engineering: how to build AI-powered systems that are secure, reliable, and trustworthy in industries where getting it wrong is not an option.

Ivaro is the result. One connected workspace for K–8 teachers, designed by someone who has stood at the front of the room, and engineered by someone who builds for the highest-stakes environments there are. Our goal is simple: give teachers their time, clarity, and confidence back, so they can focus on what drew them to this work in the first place, their students.

The people behind Ivaro

Meet the founders

Ruby Smith, Co-Founder

Ruby Smith

Co-Founder · Educator & Instructional Leader

Ruby is a veteran educator and instructional leader with more than sixteen years of experience spanning elementary and middle school education, curriculum development, teacher mentorship, and high-impact classroom instruction. She has led district math curriculum initiatives, served as a Professional Learning Team leader and Master Teacher, and consistently earned top performance evaluations for instructional excellence and student growth. Her work across diverse student populations, intervention systems, and academic leadership roles shaped her passion for building tools that genuinely support educators. Ruby currently serves in Arizona public education and holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education with licensure in multiple states. Ivaro grew directly out of her firsthand experience of doing too much with too little, and she leads its product vision, making sure every feature answers a real classroom need rather than a nice-to-have on a spec sheet.

We built Ivaro because we believe teachers deserve intelligent tools that reduce overwhelm, support great instruction, and help educators focus on what matters most, their students.

What we believe

A few principles guide everything we build. Teachers stay in control: Ivaro drafts, suggests, and speeds things up, but every decision is yours. Privacy is a starting requirement, not an add-on, which is why Ivaro is designed with FERPA and COPPA compliance in mind and why student data is never sold or used for advertising. And the teacher matters as much as the lesson, so support for your wellbeing is built in alongside support for your instruction.

Ivaro is a Precision Learning Labs LLC product, built by educators and technologists who think K–8 teachers deserve tools made specifically for them, not generic software adapted after the fact.
